Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport
Although the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport still tops out at a heady 218 MPH, that’s some 50 MPH short of the rest of the Chiron family. The tradeoff is that this car is far more agile and explosive in acceleration, thanks to tighter suspension, shorter gear ratios, and more aggressive aerodynamics, all of which lead to significantly faster lap times at the race track. Think of the Pur Sport as a Chiron set to “maximum attack”.
Of the several Bugattis I’ve been fortunate to photograph, this is the first one I’ve been able to experience on the road. The experience was shockingly visceral and although the speed and acceleration were incredible, they took a back seat to the noise the Pur Sport’s quad-turbo W16 engine made. The Pur Sport moves so much air into and around its massive engine that the best way I’ve been able to explain the experience is like being catapulted into a Category 5 hurricane!
